well said! and much nicer that I would have said it right now. :) I think the crisizm I've seen today is a bit harsh and uncalled for.

This is what I concluded, too. The good and the bad thing about Michael "Libraryman" Porter asking all his hyper-networked friends to hit the site is that they will hit it all at the same time with high expectations. So WJ gets a lot of feedback, but too much of that feedback is "FAIL!"

I'm going to give 'em more than a week before I start trying to really use the new site. It seems like they have a lot of bugs to chase down that are affecting the basic usability of the site, and I want my first experience with the new site to be a positive one.

Thanks for the note on WJ - as Chrystie so aptly put, WJ won't be perfect for everyone and we obviously still have some work cut out for us ironing out the bugs, boosting performance, and so on. All the feedback we've seen today across Twitter, Friendfeed, blogs, etc - though sometimes tough - is very much appreciated as it's only pointing us in the right direction and helping us prioritize what to work on next. Please, keep kicking the tires on the site and let us know what you find.

One thing you (Jason) said, which I wholeheartedly agree with, is that WJ is for the library community. We do hope that as you see your feedback translate into action, you'll build a sense of ownership in the site as it continues to evolve.

Today is just Day One of that (we hope) fun process. :)
