METRO 2006 Digitization Survey

The METRO 2006 Digitization Survey Final Report is now available on our website.

The Metropolitan New York Library Council (METRO) conducted its third digitization survey in the summer of 2006. The survey focused on measuring the growth of digital activity at METRO member institutions, and gathering the information needed to develop plans for further expansion of METRO’s digital services.

Funding for this survey was provided in part by Federal Library Services and Technology Act funds awarded to the New York State Library by the Federal Institute of Museum and Library Services.

METRO 2007 Digitization Grants

METRO invites all of its member libraries in New York City and Westchester County to apply for a METRO 2007 Digitization Grant.

Since 2005, METRO has provided $140,000 in grant funding to support 17 member digital projects.

Awards are competitive and applications will be evaluated by a panel composed of METRO's Information Systems and Services Advisory Council, Digitization Advisory Council, experts from the field, and METRO staff.

METRO will make the final funding decisions based on the evaluation by reviewers.

Applications are due on November 22, 2006 at 2 PM and awards will be announced in January 2007.

Funding for METRO Digitization Grants comes from the New York State Regional Bibliographic Databases Program.
